wordpress, feeds and categories!

Posted: August 11, 2010 in fedora

I believe that it’s annoying for Planet readers to get once in a while a post that shouldn’t actually be on the Planet. Speaking for myself, it’s something I really want to take a close look and I’m seeking some council!

Considering I’m using WordPress, is there a way to only aggregate to Planet posts in a certain category (ex: Fedora) ? This would make everyone’s experience more pleasant I think.

If you know a workaround, please let me know, be it plugin, patch, weird method, etc.

thanks, nmarques

Always post planet specific content in Fedora category and update the blog rss to https://aborrecido.wordpress.com/category/fedora/feed/ on fedorapeople.org . That’s it :)

  2. just add the word “feed” after your category permalink. Say:

    https://aborrecido.wordpress.com/category/fedora/feed

However, I disagree about refusing posts that aren’t fedora specific. While yes it is for Planet Fedora, we are humans with non “work” lives and those types of posts can let us in on personality in ways that talking about code or the newest X package in the repos can’t

I think you should get Planet to use a category-specific feed. See here: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds#Categories_and_Tags

And do not forget we are a community of friends, some of us enjoy the occasional offtopic post made by our friend.
